The new Yamashita () Eginno Pyonpyon Live Search 3.5 is the latest addition to Yamashita’s () range of squid jigs (), bringing ‘egi’ and ‘innovation’ together (the name “Eginno comes from the words “Egi” and “Innovation”).

Externally it does not deviate much from the classic egi jigs that we know, but here the three-dimensional eyes are located in the back, next to the hooks, in order to simulate a real shrimp that runs backwards.

Also on the front lead, a transparent, small plastic bib is fitted. When the Eginno is casted, the lip bends along the body and once in the water starts flowing, it opens up, creates resistance and adds greater realism to its swimming pattern.

The traditional feathers are usually placed on the side and the front of the body. In the case of Eginno Pyonpyon, Yamashita () placed them on the belly, to simulate the very small legs of the prawn.

The Pyonpyon (Pyon Pyon meaning jump jump) has a number of unique and innovative features, including:

• Eginno Lipis a unique folding front flap which closes on the cast for improved casting distance and opens on the retrieve. The flap creates a unique water resistance, very similar to a prawn swimming.

• Eginno Leg Feathersplaced along the belly create a natural () fluttering action similar to prawn legs while swimming. The combination of the water resistance created by the lip and the position of the feathers creates an enticing swimming action.
• Search RattleThe body is equipped with a tuned 600 Hz rattle, designed to replicate the sound of feeding and help attract interest from surrounding squid.
• 490 Glow Beads:Equipped with 490 glow beads in the middle of the body.

• UV Glow body:Built to emit UV light from the body. For the daytime.
• 490 Glow body:Built to emit a 490 glow. For the night.
• Warm Jacket– thermo storage cloth will transfer any light into heat for a more natural appeal.

The Yamashita () Live Search squid jigs () feature a number of unique features but what sets this jig apart is the 600 Hz rattle inside the body. Yamashita () have discovered after much research with a leading Japanese University that squid can pick up sounds between 400 Hz and 1400 Hz with 600 Hz being the optimum level for squid to be most interested.

To achieve the 600Hhz Yamashita () needed to change the plastic body material to a bone plastic material and use stainless steel bearings (not glass or plastic). This combination results in a high pitch rattle that no other jig on the market can replicate.

490 Glow was developed by Yamashita () after research showed the best wavelength of visible light for squid is 490 nm. 490 Glow stickers are attached to the Live Search so it now incorporates the best sound for squid, the best light for squid, the warm jacket and the easiest darting action for the angler.
