The M-Caro takes the Sbiros many steps further, when it comes to finesse and functionality and has truly created a new school of fishing, especially in False Scads.

World leading, Japanese fishing tackle company Tict, notorious for its specialty in Light Game has developed a new technique, with which we can fish our lighter soft lures and biodegradable soft baits, with greater proximity, at distances at which we were not used to and also in adverse weather conditions. We are referring to the M-Caro Sbiro and all its accessories, which have entered dynamically in the fishing world of False Scads, Garpiks, Saddled Seabreams and other surface species all over the fishing world.

The idea for the M-Caro comes from the classic older Sbiros and Ballrags. In Russia, for example, the Tict M-Caro is still considered the offshoot of the sbiro and you will see that in plenty of videos, it is still called that way. But the M-Caro takes the Sbiros many steps further, when it comes to finesse and functionality and has truly created a new school of fishing, especially in False Scads.

The M-Caro Rig

Most fans of the M-Caro, start with a rod with a solid tip, as it’s all about a technique where sensitivity of the bite is a big issue. We pick an M-Caro Sbiro, within the Casting Weight our rod can handle. These small sinkers come, in three different types and in a variety of weights, hence there is an M-Caro Sinker that will meet the particular needs of each angler.

Depending on the type and weight of the M-Caro we will chose, we select the width of the braid and the leader, but also the weight of the lure at the end of our rig. For our braid, we use theFG knot (which is thin and passes easily through the rings of our rod if needed) and strap on a 30 cm piece of fluorocarbon. There we will rig the M-Caro sinker, which will move freely on the fluorocarbon line. After the sinker, we will add the Tict soft bead and swivel. The bead protects the knot and Tict has provided for a special LRF swivel, very discreet and resistant, in the same color with the M-Caro. In the packaging, a specially designed, black soft bead is included with the Tict swivels. On the swivel we will tie our 30 cm fluorocarbon leader. At the end of the Leader we will attach a safety snapand rig our soft lure, or biodegradable bait with an Ultra Light jig head between 0.2 gr and 1 gr. This is the basic idea of an M-Caro rig.

M-Caro Types (L, M, S, ini M-Caro).

There are plenty types of Tict M-Caro Sbiros. Each type requires an adjustment of our rig, of the weight of the jig heads and lures and fishing strategy. Have a look at the picture below.

Type L L – 5.3 gr L – 6.3 gr L – 7 gr L – 9.5 gr
Type N N – 4.6 gr N – 6 gr N – 8 gr N – 11 gr
Type S S – 5.3 gr S – 6.3 gr S – 7 gr S – 9.5 gr
Tuned WT 3 gr 4 gr
Mini M – 1.5 gr M – 2.5 gr M – 3.5 gr

Each type of M-Caro sinker, except its weight, has an extra feature, that being the angle and sinking speed. Depending on the combination of features we will select, our lure will have a different angle and action, as this will be consistent with the angle and action of the M-Caro Sbiro.

The Tuned M-Caro is the prime model that can be used for top water fishing, as it sinks more slowly, than any other prototype. As with all Caros, it can cast prerfectly, even at the face on the wind.See the chart bellow.

These features instantly create a wide range of possibilities and tactics, on which we can experiment and discover the depth and the angle that fish in a particular area prefer. With the M-Caro Sbiro and through the use of Twiches and pauses, we can bring our technical rig to life, through a variety of presentations. See the chart below.

The most interest aspect of using the M-Caro sinker is that it allows you to experiment heavily on the weight and angle that work better in your area. The possibilities Tict offers us with the M-Caro Sbiros are endless. The depth at which we present our lure, the way our commands will be transferred to the lure and how it will react, as the angle and the immersion rate changes, are only few of the benefits of this technique. You will be able to explore and test every inch of the water column and unlock the fish that we target with great accuracy.

Simply too many ways to use the M-Caro.

Especially for fishing with the M-Caro, Tict has developed a variety of tools and accessories. One of those tools is a special plastic strap, so our sinker can be fasten to our rod. You can find the M-Caro Keeper here. Tict has also designed special hooks with feathers and tinsels, called Caro Kabura, which you can find here.

Many options open up, if we decide to rig the M-Caro with a soft, or biodegradable lure. Tict offers in this scenario, an amazing variety of special jig heads, such as the Mebaring Star,Ajing Standand and theVR Head and lures, such as the Brilliant soft lure for Light Rock Fishing which are perfectly suitable for the M-Caro.

The ways in which you can fish with the M-Caro Sbiro are incredibly many and we wouldnt exaggerate in saying that according to the country and available target-fish (Russia, America, Japan, France) this small sinker can be transformed, in many different ways with great success. The basic idea is to reach fast and aggressively to the depth we want to present a lure, which will consistently move in a natural manner in every depth, in any angle and retrieving speed. What happens in reality is that we can always control the sinker which, in turn – and according to its specifications – controls our lure. We only provide the angle, the depth and the tempo.

The M-Caro technique is extremely widespread in fishing False Scads. After casting and after the sinker reaches the depth we want, with jerks and twitches we bring the lure to life. In between come the pauses, during which our bait does not stand still, but sinks.

Except the pauses between Twitches, we can point the tip of our rod a little higher, thus changing the angle that the sinker hence the lure descents by. Or, we can apply a steady retrieval. Whatever you chose to do, will transform the presentation of the lure at the end of our rig. It is up to us then, to read the signs of the day and decide how heavy, or light our rig should be, how high, or low, how fast or slow our retrieval will be. This is what the M-Caro technique is all about.

Surely, you will find a number of videos on Youtube, about the M-Caro and its variations. Some anglers dont hesitate to use fresh bait (worms, squid), or a longer leader line to leave the bait inactive which transforms its rig to single – hooked with free sinker, just like in Casting.

What else is so Special about the M-Caro?

The M-Caro Sbiro is made of a material which doesnt make much sound when it falls in the water and doesnt scare the fish away, especially when we aim to species that are sensitive to disturbance, as the False Scads are. The M-Caro allows you to aim in a delicate manner and insist in particular depths of the sea column, in a way that is hard to do with other rigs, with a simple jighead and soft lure. So besides the very targeted fishing M-Caro provides, it allows you to reach the desired depth in a stealth manner, to cast to the desired distance quickly and maintain buoyancy in almost all weather conditions. It is perfect in rough conditions with waves and currents. Never again a small lure and such a light jighead that weighs only a fraction of a gram, has reached that far defying the rough sea.

The M-Caro is a technique that has charmed a lot of anglers all over the world and works in a magnificent way in the Mediterranean waters. It opens up new paths for the tactical angler and offers a wide field of experimentation enhancing an old method, to something brand new.
