Shimano’s EX Fluoro Ocea Leader is made of a unique leader material and has created new benchmarking standards, for discerning anglers dealing with wary fish. For the EX Fluoro Ocea Leader, Shimano has utilized the lightest and latest line manufacturing technology while applying strict quality control, to ensure that this line exceeds expectations.
The Shimano Ocea Fluorocarbon is made in Japan, is the leading leader line in the country and consists of three, separate layers that have each been carefully chosen for their individual attributes.
The outer coating is Fluorine, which creates a very smooth surface. Hence this line will travel through the rod guides effortlessly with minimal friction. The next layer down is constructed from a harder fluoro shell material, that gives this line extra abrasion resistance and overall strength. The inner core has been engineered, from a supple fluorocarbon material that removes the stiffness of traditional fluorocarbon leaders and makes tying, strong knots that clinch tightly easier and more reliable.
At the same time, the Ocea Leader is thinner than any equivalent breaking strain nylon, highly abrasive resistant, doesn’t absorb water which allows it to sink faster, is clear in colour and with its refractive index being pretty close to that of water, is even less visible to fish. This is important when fishing in clear water, where line visibility has the potential to spook a fish from your bait or lure.
