The most striking technology carried on the Superior is the Salt Shield Bearings, with the water repellent coating applied inside and outside the bearings surface. Watch the video with the comparison between the Salt Shield ball bearings and common stainless steel ball bearings. In this experiment both types of ball bearings were immersed in test salt water with a salinity concentration of 5.5%, for 4 days and left until the water dried and disappeared.
