What is an Ikari Blank? Rods featuring highly elastic blanks, can also break. There are many highly elastic rods, designed for lure control, but they do not provide the peace of mind you need, when fighting to land a big fish. The true purpose of a rod is to provide perfect lure control and bend in a supple manner to follow the movements of the fish you are fighting. In addition, the butt must be sturdy so it can lift the fish up. Zenaq began developing a blank to resolve this issue. The Ikari Blank, offers high levels of both elasticity and durability and is the result of many years of exploring various production techniques and combinations of different materials.
Ikari blanks consist of a Carbon x Carbon structure. Inside the hollow elastic carbon tube of the blank, there is a solid carbon core. This design dispels the notion that high elasticity correlates to low strength and low durability. Such a structure allows the Ikari blank to be ultra-sensitive and extremely durable, but still offer the fast recovery that jigging anglers seek.
The Ikaris carbon core is responsible for its high breaking strength. When compared to comparable tubular jigging blanks, the Ikari has been tested to be 160% stronger. Tubular blanks are weaker because the cross wrapped Carbon sheets of their blank, compress into ellipses as they bend. As the load on the blank increases, the carbon reaches its limit of elasticity and snaps. The Ikaris Carbon Core, provides incredible overall rigidity and strength, that prevents cross-sectional deformation, which usually results in failure.
The rods Recovery Rate refers to the time it takes for a fully loaded blank, to return to its original position. The Ikaris Carbon core improves the rods recovery rate, which has proven to exceed that of Tubular blanks. While normal Tubular blanks can only store energy in their thin walls, the Ikari blanks store energy in both their carbon cores and highly-elastic outer carbon shells. With potential energy stored in two zones throughout the blank, the blanks recovery rate is remarkably increased.
Zenaq has employed a Carbon core, all the way to the tip, for quick rod motion and lure control. The strong, but thin Ikari blank, delivers the optimum rod action. Its highly durable and carefully designed for optimum strength, responsiveness, flexibility and greater lifting power than ever before. By repeatedly pumping with the rod and reeling up the line gained, you can exert a greater force on the fish. The Ikari blank helps you land larger fish faster, while minimizing your strain and fatigue, as the rod absorbs the majority of the load.
The Ikari blanks solid carbon core relays much more feedback to you, through the rod, than hollow blanks could. This sensitivity allows you to feel everything, from your jig hitting bottom, or the jigs action to water currents and even light bites from fish. A rod this sensitive, provides the angler with a massive advantage. You can now feel everything your jig does and fine-tune your presentations to specific microenvironments to catch more fish. Compared to todays jigging rods, the difference that the Zenaq Ikari offers is as stunning as turning on the lights, in a pitch-black room.
You think this completes the presentation of the Zenaq Fokeeto Ikari DBL. We are only half way there. Born from the fusion of an Ikari Blank and DBL Structure, the new Ikari Blank DBL dispels the notion that stiff rods, place a great physical burden on the angler during the fight, draining physical strength, or that control over lightweight jigs is lost. The Zenaq Fokeeto Ikari DBL allows anglers to use all kinds of jigs and control the fight with big fish.
When targeting monsters of the sea, such as Tuna species, that surpass the norm and require great power from the rod, the angler is usually faced with the only option of using a stiff rod that demands muscle strength and physical power. Such a “hard rod” is difficult to handle. What big game requires is a rod that places constant pressure on the fish and lifts it to the surface, while offering the angler easy handling. The Zenaq technology that offers a solution to this need, is the blank designed with the DBL (Deep Bias Layered) Structure. After long testing and combination of materials, Zenaq has concluded on the ideal production pattern of blank elasticity, thickness, amount of resin and fiber angle in the carbon material, etc. DBL Structure is in essence a design method, by which the part from the middle to the butt, flexes according to the load, making casting and lure handling possible, with a broader range of lures, from lightweight to heavy, to match wide-ranging sea conditions. In casting lightweight lures, a flexible tip alone fails to offer sufficient casting distance and direction. Flexible strength in the part from the middle to the butt is needed. When a baseball player hurls the ball, simply swinging the arm does not impart the needed ball speed or direction. What is needed is lower body and upper body strength. In lure casting, too, the behavior of the part from the middle to the butt, changes allowing for stability in terms of casting distance and direction.
Unlike technical models that make use of light braided line, the FS60-J7 is a power rod, for taking on deep waters and rapid currents with heavy jigs, making maximum use of the high resilience and high strength of the blank. The Fokeeto Ikari FS60-J7 is a versatile rod, that enables confident fighting, made possible by the Ikari Blank DBL, an one-piece construction, delivering quick but balanced jig control with sensitivity transmitted from the line and through the blank without loss. The FS60-J7 is a rod of total balance.
Zenaqs innovative ergonomic hexagonal foregrip, known as the Hexagon Grip, has been designed to fit an anglers hands comfortably, giving him a huge advantage, when fighting large fish. Contoured to maximize grip with minimal pressure, your hand will not tire nearly as much as with a cylindrical handle during a fight with a large fish. Additionally, the hexagonal grip offers more precise lure control, helping you tempt more strikes from fish.
