New SeaStar Solutions (Teleflex Marine) HK4200A-3 BayStar hydraulic steering system. The BayStar features 5 turns lock-to-lock, Teleflex NoFeedBack technology, and a 3/4″ tapered keyed steering shaft (fits most common steering wheels). It exceeds NMMA and ABYC standards, and is the OEM choice of many boat manufacturers. Comes complete with everything needed to install, including installation instructions.
The BayStar requires a 3″ (76mm) cut-out hole in the dash and a minimum 21″ (534mm) splashwell width. It can be used only for single-helm, single-outboard boats less than 60 mph and 150 hp. If your outboard exceeds 150 hp, you’ll need the SeaStar kit. If your boat exceeds 60 mph, is a fast bass boat or high-performance, or has dual-cable steering, you’ll need the SeaStar Pro kit.
Cylinder (Ram) – The BayStar comes with p/n HC4645H compact cylinder, which fits most outboards. Use this application guide to see what cylinder your outboard needs. If it needs a cylinder other than the HC4645H, view the other BayStar listings for the one that comes with the cylinder you need. If your outboard requires the HO5090 spacer kit, you can find it here.
Hoses (Tubes) – The BayStar comes with two 20ft cut-to-length hoses, which will accommodate most boats. During installation, the instructions will guide you on how to cut the hoses to the required length and install the included compression nuts. If you need longer than 20ft for the hoses, you can use a longer SeaStar hose kit, which will bolt directly up to the BayStar system. Use this measuring guide if you need help.
New Version! – The HK4200A-3 is the latest version of the BayStar kit and directly replaces the discontinued HK4200A (no dash 3 at the end). The new helm has easy-to-install swivel “ORB” fittings and a new anodized back plate. The new kit comes as seen in the photos and includes the following components:
