(Kudos) is an innovative breakthrough in the field of artificial baits, a new and completely original proposal to Mediterranean anglers. is 100% handmade and has been developed to meet the requirements of Mediterranean fishermen in the fields of Light and Heavy Rock Fishing, taking in account the peculiarities of our coastlines and fish habits, in every step of the design process.

has been designed for the Mediterranean coastlines that hold White Seabreams, Saddled Seabreams and Seabass. George Tyrikos, having vast experience in the field, experimented with various forms of own made lures until with the collaboration of well-known Cypriot lure builder, Costas Kezoudis – they came up with the lure. What triggered the whole effort was the answer to two main challenges in the Light fishing field. First, to create an effective lure that accurately reacts to different retrieval approaches without getting tangled up in rocky parts, or becoming inactive in difficult weather conditions. Secondly, to fill in a significant gap in the lures market. In particular to become an advanced lure amongst the very few that resemble those wide and flat baitfish, that are abundant in the Mediterranean coast and are at the top of the food chain of predators.

The shoreline terrains to be covered with this lure, is vast. From rocky shallows, to sharp and deep areas, from estuaries and streams that meet the sea, to ports with strong currents, the challenges for the were many. Thus, two different lures were developed; one that covers basic Light Rock Fishing needs in challenging shallow areas and one that covers deeper parts of the water column and require heavier presentations, occasionally in difficult weather conditions. The comes in a LRF Pencil version and a Crankbait version for HRF / Light Spinning.

Can you imagine a small lure with which you can fish White Seabreams, Saddled Seabreams, and White Trevally with Spinning gear? Can you imagine a mouthful bait fish, that Seabass craves upon? Is there a lure that your Heavy Rock Fishing, or Light Spinning gear set can handle, achieving long casts, withstanding any weather conditions and offering technical approaches that no bait of this size and weight can? The (Kudos) Crankbait is a finesse, small lure for large fish. Even with rods with Casting Weight at 35 gr, set up with a solid reel and PE 1.0 the will impress you. It is a small lure, for emotional experiences. Kudos has been developed for those anglers who do not want to sacrifice strength and endurance, when fishing for such a light weight lure, targeting the large catches.

Our first thought was to fill in a big gap in the market. All of the flat and wide bait fish, such as the small Salema, the Two Banded Seabreams, or the Saddled Seabreams are at the top of the food chain for Mediterranean predators on a daily basis. These species are attacked by large White Seabreams, Seabass and in some cases Dentex, or other pelagic species. And yet, there was no lure in the market to imitate their size, color pattern or motion. The way these species move, as well as their shape, brought to mind a Crankbait. An artificial bait that excels in freshwater and which had to be redesigned for use in the sea. During our tests, which lasted for over a year, with various testing samples, the catches we had were overwhelmingly impressive. Everything showed that Crankbaits have a bright future in seawater fishing. So we proceeded to develop the small Salema, the Two Banded Seabreams and the Saddled Seabream in the size of one bite, but rigged for strong battles.

Our goal was to create a lure that reproduces the nervous, erratic and fast paced swimming action of small bait fish, in steady retrieves and at the same time instantly respond to the commands from our rod, such as a change of depth by raising the tip, the twitches and the pauses. The Crankbait has been designed for challenges. Hence it can accomplish a long casts and great balance in any kind of environment. It can be submerged up to 60 cm of depth, but can easily rise to a few cm of water with the appropriate action. Being a sinking lure, with a vivid wobbling, it never stays inactive and can target prey deep in the water column. The angle at which it swims and the way the treble hooks have been installed are very specific. On one hand they offer very little room to get tangled up in a rocky bottom and on the other they constantly expose their sharp and highly penetrating barb points to chasing predators. White Seabreams for example strike on the go and are difficult to catch. Not with though. Kudos has such an underwater motion that you will constantly feel at the tip of your rod. Any obstacle, or contact with the bottom can be detected so as to correct the depth, or to strike. In this respect it is a completely new lure.

Its ideal setting is with a Max 20 gr Casting Weight rod and a 2500 reel, with PE 0.6 – 0.8. However, it can also perform with heavier settings. Because of its ability to instantly respond to our commands, it can be used with light, but sturdy rods, with low Casting Weight of no more than Max 10 gr. The lure can also be rigged with bigger treble hooks than the ones provided, for even larger fish, or for boat fishing techniques such as Light Trolling, Boat Spinning, or in freshwater, without losing its core properties.
