One main characteristic of the Cultiva Bulky Spear Hooks is the upward angle of the tipping point. This is the proper angle, so that the tip of the hook stands in the mouth of the Bass, the moment the Bass bites the worm, even if the bite has not yet been transmitted to the rod.
In the case of bulky, silicone, creature worms, of greater thickness, the tip shape and angle of normal offset hooks might not allow the hook to come out of the lure’s body and miss the hooking.
However, in the case of the Cultiva Bulky Spear, the gaff-type shape of the tip, of the hook protrudes from the worm, making hooking easy.
The Cultiva Bulky Spear Hooks belong to the EWG type of offset hooks. The EWG hooks have been very popular for many years. You can easily tell them apart from the extra wide gap and from the tip of the hook. With a regular Texas-rig, the point of the hook is pushed through the entire cross section of the bait and when a bass bites the lure, the plastic bait is pushed down exposing the point.
To ensure that the hook pushes through the body of the silicone lure and that it connects deep in the fish’s mouth, Cultiva lifted the tip at a higher level than the eye and also incorporated a wider opening on the lures back. This way, you can not miss a fish.
