A vortex generator (VG) is an aerodynamic device, consisting of a small vane, usually attached to a lifting surface – such as an aircraft wing – but in this case, it is the lures lip. When the body is in motion, relative to the air, the VG creates a vortex which improves the effectiveness of the lip in maintaining the lures aerodynamics.

By stabilizing the flight posture, you can consistently make comfortable casts over and over again, rather than just one random throw. In tests that Jackson conducted, the average casting distance increased by 10.3% by installing the Vortex Generator..
