The Jackson Athlete Mebaru Tune Lipless is a Pencil type, Slow Sinking lure, that has been tuned precisely to swim in the narrow range of 10 cm under the surface, which Rockfish are most conscious of. Up until now, Sinking Pencils have been a typical type of lure that attacks the surface layer, but after casting, tend to sink to a certain extent and then gradually rise to the surface, until they reach the surface layer. Due to their characteristics, if you want to aim with a sinking pencil at the surface layer, you have no choice but to increase your retrieval speed. However, a dilemma arises when you want a slow and steady presentation.
Of course, this is effective enough for Rockfish that respond well to the action of a lure surfacing, but for Rockfish that are conscious of artificial baits, we needed a lure that would not dislodge 10 centimeters of the surface layer. The Jackson Athlete Mebaru is a balanced lure, that carries two Tungsten weights, one in front and one behind the front hook, which allow the lure for a very Slow Horizontal fall, making it easy to cast and retrieve.
The action of the Jackson Athlete Mebaru Lipless Tune creates a modest S-shaped motion pattern, also due to the eyelet placed at the rear of the lure’s tip. The S-shaped action creates a strong pulling resistance and allows the angler to continue the retrieve with the lure maintaining its position, unlike a normal sinking pencil. With the Jackson Athlete Mebaru Tune lure the angler will truly own the layer below the surface, from the moment the lure lands to the last few meters of the retrieve.
