Lucky John company, has developed the Basara line of Spinning rods, aiming to create a complete line of rods to meet the requirements of Heavy Rock Fishing to Light and Medium Spinning fishing enthusiasts. The LJBA-722LF model is tailor made to the HRF fishing technique, while the LJBA-802MLEF and LJBA-802MEF models are intended for Light Spinning and Wading, due to their short length. The LJBA-842MEF model is a Medium Spinning rod and although it is not a pure Seabass rod – as we are used to (long and parabolic) – it will turn Seabass fishing into a relaxing and enjoyable process, due to its low weight and short length.
A notable feature is the high-quality construction material of the Basara blank, which is the high-density carbon (30T) from the leading Japanese carbon fibers manufacturer, Toray.
All the rods in the Basara rod series, have new generation stainless steel guides, made with Anti-Tangle technology by Lucky John company, with Sic Ceramic ring inside, suitable for use of braided lines. Due to their construction material, they show increased resistance against seawater corrosion. Peripherals have been placed at appropriate points along the blank, resulting in a well setup, perfectly balanced rod. Also the sizes of the guides utilized in this rod series are really very small. The consequence of this detail is the minimization of the distance between the braid and the blank, a feature that gives us the ultimate feeling and contact with our lures, transmitting every information, to the anglers palm.
The rods of the Lucky John Basara series can be described as versatile, as they will comfortably fish with Soft Silicone baits and Minnows as you are getting closer to the Maximum Casting Weight Limit of each rod. But what they will excel upon, is the use of Walk the Dog lures. Their Fast and Extra Fast action and their nervous retrieve will give life to Minnows, and even more so, to the WtD lures, which are demanding in their handling and the rod we use plays a decisive role in breathing life into them.
The LJBA-722LF is a rod with a length of only 2.18 m which will easily allow us to manage a lure in difficult and narrow spaces. The Power of the rod is Light allowing us to feel everything of what is happening to the other end of our line. Its action is Fast and the Casting Weight ranges from 3 to 12 grams. The action of the tip is limited to of its total length, which proves its fast action. It also exhibits an unusually high strength in the blank, which few rods in the Light category possess. This gives you the confidence that the rod in your hands, can handle challenges that otherwise would not match a rod of this length. All of the above features make up a rod made for using silicone lures, rigged with jig heads, as well as other artificial lures such as Light Jigs, Small Minnows and Pencils.
Another rod from the Lucky John Basara series, with ideal characteristics for Wading is the LJBA-802MLEF. Its total length is 2.44 m. It belongs to the category of Medium Light rods, with Extra Fast action and Casting Weight 5 – 20 gr. The 802MLEF rod exhibits particularly increased blank strength. The LJBA-802MLEF allows you to fish a wide range of artificial baits, both soft and hard baits, such as silicone baits rigged with jig heads, Offset lures with Cheburashka rigs, or Weedless. As for hard lures, it goes with many types of lures, but will handle those in the Walk the Dog class particularly well, due to the very fast, tip action. The short butt will make handling Minnows and Pencils a breeze, whether hitting Twithes, or Jerks, giving the ultimate Wading experience.
The LJBA-802MEF is the second rod in the Basara series with a length of 2.44m which is ideal for Wading. Despite the common length, the 802MEF differs from the 802MLEF. We are now talking about a rod with Medium Power and Casting Weight 6 26 g. The excess strength of the blank is there. With this rod, fishing with silicone lures, but also with hard baits, takes on another dimension, as their response to every command of the rod is more than exemplary. With the power presented by the LJBA-802MEF’s blank, battling large Seabass will not cause concern, on the contrary, it will give us a very beautiful battle with a happy outcome, being almost certain.
The LJBA-842MEF rod is the longest and heaviest of the Basara rod series, measuring 2.54m in length and belonging to the Medium Power category. Its Casting Weight is only 8 32 g, yet its behavior refers to a much stronger rod. Its action is Extra Fast with a very quick reset, giving the impression that the battle with a large Sea Bass is nowhere near the strength of this particular model. Large Minnows and Pencils up to 30g will be casted ideally by the LJBA-842MEF making it the one and essential Spinning rod in the hands of a beginner, or an experienced Spinner.
