This is the main advantage of the Micro Jigging fishing technique, which is perhaps the only style that can guarantee 100% success in any fishing expedition, as there is no chance that such a small bait will reach the bottom and not get attacked by a prey, regardless of size.

If you chose the Baitcasting version, there is one, very important point to stress: the shallow spool of the Bait Casting reel, is a crucial factor for a successful Micro Jigging fishing session. The Bait Casting reel that you will use must have a shallow spool, in order to rotate freely and allow the tiny jig sink naturally to the bottom. A deep spool, due to its volume and weight, slows down the lure and does not provide this option. An ideal Baitcasting reel for this rod, is the Crazee SW 150L.

But can this rod, although it belongs in the Super Light Jigging style, aim at large fish? Yes it can. The Crostage SLJ has a very parabolic bending curve, so that it exerts a constant strain, to each inch of its blank. Just as an 8+ kg fish can be brought to surface with Tai Rubber gear, with braid # 0.8 and 0.30 mm fluorocarbon, so can a 3+ kg Dentex with PE #0.6 braid and 0.22 mm fluorocarbon leader.

How to fish the Major Craft Crostage SLJ with Vertical Boat Jigging: Combine it with a baitcasting reel imperative to have a shallow spool, so that it rotates easily during the descent of our light jig and allow the lure to sink. Once it reaches the bottom, use your wrist to shake the tip of the rod and let it sink again. Its resistance is so low that its use with short shakes of the wrist is very relaxing and pleasant. Experiment with a variety of styles, such as Long Jerks, Short Jerks as well as occasional steady retrieve. Most of the strikes will come about as the jig is sinking freely. The depth of the water can be anywhere between 7 meters deep to 30 meters, depending on the currents and wind. However, it is worth noting that during the tests we performed, 40 meters of depth were successfully reached, with mild weather conditions, with 30 gr jigs. Our goal is always to use gear that is as light as possible for the strike zone we want to reach. An ideal combination for the beginning, is braided line PE # 0.6 with 0.2 mm fluorocarbon leader.

How to Use the Crostage Super Light Jigging in Light Surface Trolling: In the aforementioned setting with PE # 0.6 braid and 0.20 mm fluorocarbon, attach a small lure and set the reels drags at 300 – 400 gr.
