Now that the company has the high end covered with their Helios line they have turned their attention once again to the value and mainstream market by introducing the Okuma Caymus Spinning Reels, which features a stealthy black finish with red highlights.

The Okuma Caymus may be small in weight and size, but not in performance. These reels have powerful forged aluminum handle arms with premium EVA knobs, a precision elliptical gearing system which includes machine cut brass pinion gears for durability, and seven bearings with quick set anti-reverse bearings that deliver fluid performance and commanding hook sets.

The Okuma Caymus Spinning Reels have lightweight handling, a blade body design that is ultra compact and both the machined aluminum spool and rotor are computer balanced and ported for weight reduction.

Okuma Technologies

The RES II System stands for Rotor Equalizing System. This second-generation RES System incorporates a computer-balanced weight precisely placed in the rotor. This weight allows for precision balance and eliminates all spool wobble for perfect alignments and smooth cranking.

This system allows for instant handle engagement and eliminates all handle back play commonly found in many reels. This is accomplished by using a corrosion- resistant stainless steel roller bearing that engages the reel in one direction for rock-solid hook sets.

The Even Flow Roller System utilizes a ball bearing under the line roller to maximize efficiency. This roller helps reduce line twists by freely rolling over the line roller without friction. Without this system, line will naturally twist when drag is pulled.

Precision Elliptical Gearing – the revolutionary Precision Elliptical Gearing design is patented in a number of countries around the world and is the soul of the Okuma mid to upper-end spinning reel range. The Precision Elliptical Gearing design uses elliptical shaped oscillation gears which provide exceptional line lay, improved smoothness and maximum long-life durability. The Precision Elliptical Gearing gears are always engaged and provide a very smooth spool stroke, eliminating the spool from jumping as commonly found on many reels.

Okuma’s Blade Body Design narrows the profile of the reel’s frame. This feature reduces weight eliminating the extra mass and bulk of the reel, giving the reel a much lighter and compact design.

High Performance Ball Bearings. The balls used on the HPB’s are constructed from the same high-grade stainless steel material as the bearing housing. These bearings were designed to be more than 10 times more resistant to saltwater than standard stainless steel bearings. These bearings may even outlast the angler himself.
