The Junior version are made with high carbon steel hooks, for unmatched strength. Carbon steel is an alloy steel, with carbon content between 0.61% and 1.50% by weight typically used in tool construction. High carbon steel is very difficult to cut, bend and weld. Once heat treated it becomes extremely hard and brittle.
The points on these hooks were designed by Owner to curve in slightly, so they are protected against prolonged banging against jigs.
Forged for strength with spade end to reduce hook weight, the Owner Junior 5292 Assist hooks include snelled knots to promote efficient and positive hook sets and a needle point for excellent hook up rates. Fluorocarbon is threaded inside each arm to discourage hooks fouling on each other.
