The S-75M by leading Japanese company Owner, is a hook that has been developed to be used a Single Assist hook in lures such as Minnows and Spoons. This is a noble alternative to the treble hooks, most our lures are pre-rigged with.
Less invasive than treble hooks, the Owner S-75M features a turned eye, which causes it to sit in-line with the body for a more streamlined and snag-free performance.
Why use Single Assist Hook on lures? The reasons are two and they are simple:
The first – which has an ecological element to it – is that by using single hooks, we reduce serious injuries to fish that we do not want to keep, either due to their small size, or due to the period in their life cycle (breeding season). So our fishing style becomes more nature-friendly, adopts a long-term preservation philosophy and becomes more selective, especially when practicing Catch & Release.
The second reason is more financial in nature and this is none other than avoiding the loss of lures. It is not rare that our lures become tangled in the seabed, usually with more than one treble hooks, which make its disengagement impossible. With the use of Single Assist Hooks the chances of getting the lure tangled in the bottom are significantly less, while the chances of retrieving it are much more than with the use of treble hooks. This is enormously useful especially in techniques such as LRF and HRF, where our fishing is usually done in the shallows, looking for the Mediterranean White Seabream.
It is no coincidence that leading companies in the field have studied this problem and have rigged lures and jigs with Single Hooks, a typical example of an LRF lure being the Nap Deep by Japanese Palms.
Equipped with a Needle Point hook and black chrome finish for faster penetration and increased invisibility, the Owner Single Hook S-75M provides a functional option for changing out stock treble hooks on hard baits.
