It is no secret that the Sinking Pencil lures, that were once at the bottom of our tackle case, are now one of the first choices for many anglers. Fishermen have become more experienced, more technical in their presentations and now have the will and ability to make a Sinking Pencil work, leaving behind the era that everyone wanted lures with a lip. But why did things change, or to be more precise, why did they “evolve”? Because the lures with a lip has a predetermined action, which – to a large extent – is defined by the lip itself and this can not change. Sinking pencils on the other hand are much more creative, since their movement is created by the angler himself, by modifying the recovery speed and the motion of the rod. So with the same lure, the angler can “unlock” different species. Sinking pencils are also characterized by the ability to cast far, both in mild and severe weather conditions. The Cast Hacker lures are a complete line of sinking pencils and have been designed to meet the requirements of any condition..
The Cast Hacker is a sinking pencil for ultimate challenges in the rough saltwater game. This Wire Through hard lure, has been designed to be a small in size, compact in volume; small enough to fool tough predators, but strong enough to handle them and tackle any challenge that comes its way. The FS models have strong sinking and skipping effects, when retrieved quickly with the tip of the rod pointing upwards. The XS lures have a very fast “deadfish” fall, even greater casting ability and can be used with more aggressive Twitching, even in difficult weather conditions. The XS can reach deep points quickly, no matter how strong the current.
The first unique characteristic of the Savage Gear Cast Hacker lure is its casting capacity. Have the right gear and you will be punching this lure up to 120 meters from the shore, with ease. The Cast Hacker comes in different weights and will allow the angler to search all levels of the water column, from top to bottom. If you are an offshore enthusiast, cast it in the heart of the feeding frenzy fish, from a great distance, without scaring them away.
The Savage Gear Cast Hacker series consists of 3 sizes (9.5, 11.5 and 13 cm) with two models of different sinking speeds each. So we will find the three sizes in the FS (Fast Sinking) version and three in the XS (Extra Sinking) version. The difference is in the weight and the internal ballast arrangement. Let’s see what each version offers us separately.
The FS series consists of three sizes in 9.5cm – 26g / 11.5cm – 44g and 13cm – 73g. The purpose of this lures range is to deceive even the laziest fish and to bring catches even to in-shore beginners. In fact, they do it all on their own, for as long as we work them even with aslow and stable retrieve. When they sink, they sink with VMS action, which means that they hold a natural, wobbling posture. Therefore this model will receive several attacks during the sinking phase. The angler will be happy to give whatever movement he wants to this lure, with slow, or fast Twitching, with Jerks and even with Walk the Dog retrieve. The FS Cast Hacker will respond wonderfully to all three. The FS version also performs with Skipping, giving us the ability to work it on the surface with fast recovery and the tip of your rod pointing upwards, targeting fish such as Mahi-Mahi, Bonitos, etc.
The Cast Hacker XS series consists of three sizes in 9.5cm – 32g, 11.5cm – 63g and 13cm – 93g. The purpose of these lures is to deliver an explosive shot and quickly reach the depth we want, overcoming currents and head wind. Its sinking motion is like a “falling leaf”, resembling the movements of a sick, or injured fish, with one side facing towards the surface and the other facing the bottom, producing strong reflections. Clearly this Savage Gear lure series is more aggressive and the recovery must be similar. It targets active fish that hunt and are often indifferent to slow-acting lures. So in combination with fast Twitches, of a wide, or sharp angle, medium to fast recovery speed and WTD, they will not leave room to active fish to ignore them. This model will best serve anglers who have some experience with Sinking Pencils.
This tungsten-tuned lure, also features an internal rattle and will blow away the hard game, inshore and offshore anglers.
Attention has been placed to the outter profile of the lure, that strongly immitates a real fish, with very lively eyes. The colors will also make a great impression. The realistic reproduction of intense colors produce reflections of life-like scales and mimic the natural, visual effect of fish. What you do not know is that all colors have UV details, with the most important being the ISP (Intense Strike Point) in which three UV red dots, appear like a wound near the “tail” and right next to the rear treble hook, directing attacks there.
