The Shimano Caius A is a compact, versatile, and durable bait casting reel, designed with light weight lure casting in mind and addressing the entry level user.

The Shimano Caius A is a compact, versatile, and durable bait-casting reel, designed with light weight lure casting in mind and addressing the entry level user. It can be used either from the shore, as it casts far and transmits life into your lures, but also from the boat as it is a strong and lightweight reel.

By reducing the size of the new Caius from 200 to 150 and upgrading the braking systems to SVS, you can be confident to cast your lure easily on the desired spot.

The reel is also equipped with other Shimano features like Super Stopper to reduce backplay for instant hook setting, as well as strong and durable XT-7 body to withstand long-lasting use and powerful fish.

Shimano equipped the Caius A with a bold technology, that we usually come across in more expensive reels. With hundreds of casts, an angler can train his thumb to touch the spool at just the right times, to achieve maximum distance and no backlashes on a baitcaster. Shimano has created a quick and easy solution to backlashes. Its called VBS Variable Braking System. With VBS, you get that for the majority of a cast. It creates a much more consistent spool speed that is easier to manage and takes advantage of the reels maximum casting distance.

Before VBS, all bait casting reels relied on a system of magnets to help prevent backlashes. But, by design, a magnetic system shortens casting distance. It is slowing down the speed of the line spool from the beginning to the end of a cast. With VBS, centrifugal force works to create friction and prevent the spool from over-running. And it is only comes into effect when spool speed threatens to overrun.

Shimano Technologies

VBS (Variable Braking System):VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid controlling the cast. The individual brake weights, when turned on, are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens, allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more consistent spool speed that is easier to manage and takes advantage of the reels maximum casting distance.Settings range from zero weights turned on for true freespool and up to 6 weights turned on for extremely windy conditions and maximum cast.

Diecast Aluminium:Diecast aluminium is used for many types of reel and is most common on fixed spool reel bodies and rotors. It is also used for spools on P4 fixed spool reels and come baitcasting models.

Super Stopper:Super Stopper is a oneway roller bearing that eliminates backplay for solid hooksets.

XT7:XT7 is the original Shimano composite reel material. Used on midpriced and budget reels and spools XT7 is reliable, robust and lightweight.
