The addition of the Magnumlite Spool III, which reduces spool inertia by 17%, takes this to the next level. The New SVS system has been added to enable a larger range of brake adjustment via the external dial, greatly enhancing castability and control. The Quiet Tune technology lowers spool bearing vibration for quiet reeling, and the Micro Module main gear is constructed from solid brass. Shimano field testers have put the Metanium MGL through rigors testing for more than a year in Australia’s top end, which is known for its severe saltwater conditions.
