The Bungy is being developed by Danish company UltraGlozz. It is a test winning snubber/shock absorber for various applications, for safe and gentle mooring and also jibing. The Bungy is guaranteed to give you a good night sleep on board as you get no noise and no squeaking sounds, or being interrupted by shocks, as well as violent jerking and banging. With Bungy you get mooring lines as flexible as rubber bands, which effectively eliminate damage to boats and bridges because there are no hard shocks and jerks, even in rough seas and violent storms.

An important advantage of the Bungy is that it is very easily and quickly installed and removed. You do not need the free end of the rope to install it, only a minimal slack.

The Bungy is suitable for lines up to 20 mm. It is suitable for most kind of mainsheets and moorings, either for permanent mounting, as well as temporary and also anchor, or buoy lines. The Bungy functions also as a brilliant shock absorber, on many applications, even on the mainsheet:

• No problems with violent jerks and bangs when jibing
• No problems with jerks when sailing downwind in wavy conditions
• Positive effects when sailing windward in gusty winds
• Takes only a few seconds to remove when racing

You can also use Bungy for the Topping Lift, to reduce the amount of guitar strumming vibrations that happen when anchored and the lift is tight. After adding Bungy, all or most of this noise will disappear.

It is manufactured of a weatherproof rubber like material, which does not discolour the line, has excellent elongation properties and regains its shape, without becoming weaker.

The size of the boat determines how many Bungy that will be needed on each line. Recommendation for a 9 m boat:

• Permanent Mooring: 4 5 Bungy
• Temporary Mooring: 2 3 Bungy
• Mainsheet: 2 Bungy
• For larger boats, add one Bungy for each additional 3 meters.

Bungy is small (approx. 7 x 4 x 4 cm), but strong and handy. The more Bungy you add, the stronger and more flexible the line becomes. Each Bungy gives up to 8 cm of flexibility to each mooring line.

A leading Danish Maritime Testing Institute, conducted extensive pulling tests on the Bungy and they stopped the test when the pulling force reached 2.143 kg. It was pointless to pull more than that, as no boat owner will ever experience that kind of pressure in a mooring situation. No other Rubber Mooring Compensator in the market can resist a pull of 2.143 kg without being torn to pieces, except for the Bungy. And no matter how many times they pulled, the Bungy came out intact and immediately reverted to its original shape.
