Although it was originally designed as a Slow Jigging lure, the Underground Cuttle works better, as a bottom bumping jig. It has been designed to have two rings (back & front), two very realistic 3D eyes and the shape and size of a real cuttlefish. Various deep bottom fishing styles can be explored with the Underground Cuttle jig. Feel free to experiment with the addition of live bait, or tinsels to increase the appeal.
Its hydrodynamic shape, allows them to sink quickly to the bottom. This is a rather effective drifting fishing style, developed in the Mediterranean, that is actually a version of Trolling with Sinker.
Try short, calm jerks with the tip of your rod and this will give to the Cuttle natural motion, that will lure prey such as Red Snappers, Dentex, Grouper, etc. Allow it to swim parallel to the bottom, like a hovering squid, or octopus with repetitive small lifts of your rod, accompanied by 1/2 to 1/4 reel cranks.

This is a versatile fishing system that allows you to try lots of different variations and styles. In principle they are effective in depths below 50 m. but require light and sensitive equipment (rod, braid, fluorocarbon) to transmit the slightest bite to the tip of your rod. The Underground Cuttle jig can be used in numerous fishing styles, depending on the depth and changes in current.
Tie the fluorocarbon line, or the braid to the ring. Use any fresh bait you can get your hands on such as small squid, or shrimp, to add scent and flavor to your jig. Beware thought that this will attract small fish which will only be interested to nibble your bait.
