The Tobizo is an Offshore Casting rod of exceptional quality and casting distance. This series boasts the highest level of performance in terms of all elements: distance, power, and action. It fully incorporates the expertise Zenaq has developed over the past 20 years, since releasing their first innovative offshore casting rod in 1997.
Up to date, Offshore Casting rods had to limit their lifting power, to increase their casting distance. The Zenaq Tobizo series of rods has finally overcome the problem of compromising Casting performance for Lifting power and Strength for Elasticity. The T1100G material from Toray, together with Nanoalloy resin, yields a superiorly strong, yet soulful carbon blank. These design factors, contribute to the Tobizos outstanding strength, without sacrificing – in fact, only improving – its long-casting ability.
We all want to be able to cast farther, and for very good reason. Longer casts allow you to reach the fish that were once out of reach, reducing the likelihood of spooking them with the boat. With a longer cast, you can cover more water, which ultimately gives you a better chance of hooking a fish. If every cast you make goes 10m farther, and over the course of a day you make 100 casts, then youll have covered an extra 1,000 sq.m. by the end of the day. Although this may not seem like much, when blind casting for Tuna, or GTs, this 10m of extra distance drastically increases the probability of a fish taking your lure; in fact, it very well may be the difference between going home empty-handed and shattering a record.
Easier distance improves the productivity of your fishing. How so? By using a rod that allows you to conserve your energy, youll feel like making more casts and have more energy left for the fight. Unprecedentedly efficient, the ultralight Tobizos optimized Toray carbon blank allows you to cast with 80% less effort.
A rods Lifting Power is not characterized by how stiff it is; rather, it is defined by the rods ability to exert force on the fish. Contrary to popular belief, a stiff rod does not provide anglers any advantage while fighting large fish; all a stiff rod does is put a greater strain on the angler instead of dispersing the load throughout the blank. By incorporating a blank which absorbs the load of a fighting fish, the angler has the advantage of bringing the fight to the fish comfortably, during otherwise grueling, protracted battles. The Zenaq Tobizo series allows anglers to run high drag pressures on the rods. The extremely strong, elastic T1100G carbon incorporated in the blank, translates this pressure into lifting power for the angler. No other offshore casting rod its weight can boast the same lifting power as the Tobizo, which stands apart in a class all on its own.
Models TC80-80G has been designed to handle Stickbaits and Poppers in the range between 60 and 80 gr and is best matched with an SW8000 reel. The TC84-100G has been designed to use for slightly heavier lures between 80 and 100 gr and is a good fit to an SW14000 reel.
The RG Guide System utilizes approximately twice as many guides, along the length of the blank, compared to other layouts. All of the guides are of the same, compact size. Due to the guides proximity to one another, line passes from one to the next, as straight as possible to minimize air resistance, improve cast smoothness and decrease the rate of tangles. In addition, with more contact between line and guides when retrieving lures, or fighting fish, an unprecedented amount of power and sensitivity is extracted from the blank.
The last guide on the tip, referred to as the Assist Guide in the RG Guide System, is always placed 4cm from the tip. Zenaq has determined this to be the optimal distance to prevent line from wrapping around the blank, just before the tip guide, a frequent annoyance with other guide layouts, that robs you of valuable fishing time. Now, even during windy days, you can concentrate on fishing knowing that line wrapping around the rod is a concern of the past, with the RG Guide System.
In summary, the RG Guide System (LC) offers the following unique benefits:
Cast farther than ever before. The RG Guide System allows for longer casting distances to be achieved, than ever before. The small diameter and the exact positioning of the guides suppress line spirals, while the small decreased distance between guides allows PE lines to shoot straight through the entire layout, with absolutely minimal friction. This becomes especially apparent in adverse weather conditions, as this system greatly decreases resistance on the line, due to strong winds.
Less line troubles. The RG Guide System also decreases PE line troubles dramatically. The guides spacing and small ring diameter work together to suppress line oscillation, so even the thinnest PE braids can pass through the guides in a straight line. On top of that, the last guide at the tip of the rod, has been placed 40mm from the tip, aiming to eliminate all line wrapping around the tip.
Maximum Rod Power and Suppleness. Due to the close guide spacing along the blank, the braid follows the natural curve of the blank very closely when bent. As a result, more of the blanks power can be accessed, which allows the angler to set hooks more efficiently and fight fish which bring the reels drag force to its limit. At the same time, the guides setting enable the blank to absorb more of the fishs fighting power and avoid line breaks.
Precision in controlling the lure. By minimizing slack line, in between the guides, the RG Guide System greatly improves smoothness and precision in lure control. Lures are much more responsive to the slightest command from your rod and the angler can derive more accuracy in the lures action, with much less effort.
Exquisite sensitivity. The narrow guides setting, means that there are many guides on the rod, and these serve as multiple many sensors. They carry more and better information from underwater, like movement of fish or that of the lure. The sensitivity that the RG guides are offering is second to none. The ultra-light weight of the small, titanium-framed guides, exclusively used in the RG Guide System also improve the rods recovery speed to its original state.
Zenaqs innovative ergonomic hexagonal foregrip, known as the Hexagon Grip, has been designed to fit an anglers hands comfortably, giving him a huge advantage, when fighting large fish. Contoured to maximize grip with minimal pressure, your hand will not tire nearly as much as with a cylindrical handle during a fight with a large fish. Additionally, the hexagonal grip offers more precise lure control, helping you tempt more strikes from fish.
